Timothy Adams is the Scientific Director for The Roberts Group and one of our key client associations, the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association of the U.S. (FEMA). In addition, Dr. Adams is the Scientific Secretary for the Expert Panel of the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association. Tim was Scientific Consultant for FEMA from 1991-2001. Many leading institutions in the organic chemistry world have praised Dr. Adams’ analytical approach involving chemical group assessments. Dr. Adams utilizes this approach as a consultant to the Flavor and Fragrance High Production Volume Consortia, and in the FEMA submissions to the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). Dr. Adams is a distinguished academic. He served as Associate Faculty in the Department of Pathology, School of Medicine and Health Sciences at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. (1992-1996), teaching clinical chemistry and clinical biochemistry. Dr. Adams was a Professor of Chemistry at Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland from 1971-2000. Tim is the author or co-author of 40 scientific publications on varied subjects such as enzyme modeling, total synthesis of bicyclic lactones, and reviews of the safety of flavoring ingredients. He has received several fellowships and awards including: the Skeptical Chemist Research Prize (1976); Catalyst Award, Chemical Manufacturer’s Association (1991); United States Steel Fellowship (1968-1970); and the National Master Teacher’s Award (1978).
